Seamore’s Luscious Lobster Roll

We recently discovered Seamore’s in Clarendon, Virginia. It’s been a while since we last visited that part of Arlington; it’s been even longer since we dined there. Located nearly on the corner of Clarendon Boulevard and North Edgewood Street, the large windows attract passersby.

A look at the menu in the window prompted an “Oh, that sounds good.”
On the building, “sustainable seafood” caught my eye. According to Seamore’s website, sustainable means “selling only species whose stocks are stable or growing and are harvested in an environmentally conscious manner.” If you’ve been to Whole Foods, you’ve seen the color-coded system for fish. Seamore’s, following the standards of the Monterey Bay Seafood Watch, uses seafood that is green or yellow.
“Our Maine Lobster Roll is topped with a little Old Bay to give it a little local flavor.”

You’re probably thinking: “That’s nice, but how did it taste? How did it look?” Let’s just say the food was delicious and fresh. The Maine lobster roll had more lobster than I’ve seen in a lobster roll in this area. The lobster was spilling out of the roll. This wasn’t any diced lobster, either. The roll contained lobster chunks.
Classic Mussels and Fries
When the classic mussels and fries arrive with a spoon in the dish, you know they want you to enjoy that broth. The menu didn’t describe the white wine and cream broth as spicy, but it had a lovely kick. If I weren’t in a public place, I probably would have lifted the bowl to my mouth and slurped that last bit of broth. The mussels, which came out easily from the shells, were delightful.
The Reel Deal
The “Reel Deal” allows you to choose your fish and sauce. The plate, shown here, includes cauliflower mash, kale salad, and a salad with corn, asparagus and tomato, served with red curry sauce on the side. This combo plate is sure to satisfy your hunger.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention the shaved Brussels sprouts and fennel salad. The vegetable content was off the charts with the addition of spinach and cabbage. There was also no shortage of goat cheese, walnut vinaigrette and balsamic drizzle.
The night ended with a churro ice cream sandwich, described on the website as “Seamore’s famous.” Churros are a type of fried dough pastry, often dusted with sugar and cinnamon. The ice cream holds it all together as a sandwich, and it tastes fantastic.
Seamore’s isn’t new to Clarendon. According to our server, it opened in October 2022. In addition to the Clarendon location, there are restaurants in New York City and Connecticut.
